Executive Meeting // Tuesday May 18, 2010

Call To Order---Chairman Paula Larsen
Roll Call Of Members--- Members in attendance as listed above.
Motion was made (Council members Markus/Larrabee) to close the meeting from
6:32 to 7:05, to conduct business on new contract with web page master. (7)-yes—
Passed. Chairman Larsen asked the public to clear the meeting room for that short
period of time.
At 7:03 Chairman Larsen opened the meeting back to the public. She again
explained about going over the contract with and acceptance by the webpage Master
(Jill Young). There will be a signing of the contract on 01 Jun 2010 public meeting.
Minutes---Motion was made (Council members Markus/Helsten) to approve Publics minutes for 05/04/2010 as submitted and corrected. (6)-yes, (1)-abs--Passed

Reports---
Westside Representative – Greg Schulz
a) Million dollar tree incentive needs counting of trees planted in Loder Park. Councilmember Taylor said there were seven (7) planted.
b) N – N (Neighborhood-to-Neighborhood) work is scheduled for 22 May, with the gathering spot to be at the South Kearns Elementary School. County Mayor Carroon’s mother would be present.
c) UPD deputy Afatasi was selected as ‘Deputy of the year’.
Committee Reports ---
Chair Larsen – Community Involvement—
a) Asking members to spread the word about submissions/nominations for Grand
Marshal and Kearns Hero for the upcoming Kearns Hometown Parade and event.
Reminding Council members that the Executive meeting will be held in the small
meeting room of the Library.
b) Made a challenge to all Council members to join/participate in the Gold Medal
Mile walk for the whole month of June. Ruse the card handed out and register at
the KOPFC.
c) On Saturday 22 May at noon (across from 9-11 Park) there will be two (2) trees
planted in the honor of Clyde Gines and our own Paula Larsen. They were
selected by a committee (Rep. Erik Hutchings and State Sen. Karen Mayne formed
in 2009) as “Giants in the Community”.
d) Chair Larsen submitted the receipt for Hand Sanitizers ($524.48) from Interform
Graphics for Taste of Kearns and other events. And the receipt for the balloon
valves ($89.80) from NN Graphics for the remainder of balloons for Hometown
Days. Motion to accept these receipts (Council members Brennan/Markus) (6)-
yes (1)-abs—Passed.
Councilmember Taylor - Financial
a) Informed council that a 990 EZ- file extension for 501-C4.
b) He needs a better written Invoice for the Fireworks purchased under special
projects. The receipt received was not legible.
c) Handed out the Financials completed for the month –was accepted as corrected with
no objection from council.
Councilmember Larrabee - ACCT Report
a) Dues-has not been paid. These dues are for our insurance on all events and
membership. Councilmember Taylor stated that there has not been a invoice/bill
received and is unsure of amounts. Councilmember Larrabee said she will get the
invoice from Janet and find out the exact amounts ($10.00 & 15.00??) of any
increase.
b) Insurance papers need to be filled out – Beehive Insurance
c) Election System – discussion on mail-in-votes, Polling locations.
d) Educate, Organize, Drill—Emergency Volunteers – County bld. 2nd Thursday of
each month.
Councilmember Brennan – Public Works
a) The cement wall on corner North side of 5400 S. is partially up-good work to
County.
b) The Neighborhood to Neighborhood flyers are to be passed out tomorrow
starting at 4 pm at the Elementary school. We would appreciate help from
volunteers to pass them out.
c) N to N is this Saturday morning and will go to about 1:30 pm. It will
involve many county services for the public along with the cleanup. We are
looking for many volunteers to assist in the community area.
Other Com. Reports: None
Unfinished Business:
a) Council has letter of Support for the Carpet Bagger Re-union, to be given to Pam Todd of the Kearns Historical Society, which is hosting the reunion and looking for financial sponsors.
b) Councilmember Markus received a quote on the Refurbishing/building of the
Memorial Cannon wheels from out-of-state company-$1490 + s&h = $1740.
Council will keep looking.
c) Councilmember Peterson – advised council members of the Memorial Day Re-
dedications of the Viet Nam memorial by the American Legion post and also
the cannon had been painted
New Business:
a) Kearns Planning & Zoning committee member is leaving. That leaves an open seat
for any Kearns citizen to apply for. They meet every 1st Wednesday of the month at
the county building.
b) Float maintenance—Access is anytime. Chair will make arrangements with Gines
Auto for maintenance.
c) KOPFC Bond election issue citizen meeting is tomorrow (Wed.) at the Olympic Oval, 7:00pm.
d) Chief Royce Haakenson says the UFA is accepting applicants for their Intern Firefighter Program. It is eight (8) weeks long.
