Call To Order---Kevin Lundy, Chairman

 

***Motion by Councilman Markus to have Councilwoman Larsen to act as secretary pro tem.  2nd by Councilman Helsten.  4 yes, 1 no.  Motion passed.

 

Roll Call Of Council Members---Seven members in attendance, as listed.

 

Minutes---Minutes for 10/6/2009 were approved as read and corrected.

Public Reports---Mayors Office---Megan Hillyard reported the Emergency Volunteer Coord. meeting is next week.  Mayors Town Hall meeting regarding the county 2010 budget is 11/2/2009, 7:00 PM, Utah Olympic Oval.  Mayors Open Door is 11/19/2009, 5:30 PM, County Complex.  Megan stated she and Bev Uipi are working on a check list, for the special funds the councils receive, for further clarification on how those funds can be spent.  UFA---Dave Ulibarri, UFA stated that the Emergency Volunteer Coord program and CERT training will be starting.  He will work with Councilman Markus and Kearns EVC Al Britton.   Westside Rep.---Greg Schulz reported that the Westside Transportation Meeting will be held 10/27/09 at 5:30 PM, Magna Chamber building. 

 

Committee Reports---Parks & Rec---Councilman Taylor thanked all the people who came to plant trees at Loder Park on Saturday.  Stated he would like to buy tree rings used to water the trees.  The rings will hold water to water each tree accordingly to need so someone does not have to water on a daily basis by hauling water in.  No council objections to purchase.  Megan from Salt Lake County stated that would be ok to use funds for this purchase.  Community Involvement---Councilwoman Larsen gave council treasurer and Megan from Salt Lake County year end financial reports for community involvement events that have taken place so far this year.   Treasurer---Chairman Lundy gave members financial report for review and stated this is just a draft and has not had final audit or approval yet.  Youth Council---Councilwoman Larrabee stated that the Youth Council will have their kick off on 11/6/2009, 2:30 PM, KHS Cafeteria.  She will be taking up to $75.00 from her funds to provide pizza for this.  No council objections.  She stated there are about 8 youth on the council so far with more applications still pending

 

Council Supplies---Councilwoman Larsen stated there are only about 5 reams of copy paper left.  Should last through the end of the year, but will need to purchase more.  Councilman Helsten said he had a contact for paper and would check pricing with him.

 

Unfinished Business---Funds Request---Learning For Life---This request was presented and discussed at previous council meeting.  ***Motion by Councilwoman Larsen to approve $1000.00 for this request.  2nd by Councilman Markus.  Chairman Lundy stated that this has already received Salt Lake County approval as well.  5 yes, 0 no.  Motion passed.  Vouchers---Councilman Brennan reported he still has landfill vouchers available to the public.  Kearns American Ball Park---Chuck McDowell provided an invoice to the council for the purchase new doors for the buildings in the amount of approx. $1095.00.  Council had previously approved $1000.00 for project.  Per council protocol check will be paid to the vendor, Home Depot, directly.  They will be installing the doors on 10/24/09 beginning at 8:00 AM.  Anyone can come and help, need knowledge of door hanging and tools.  

 

New Business---Funding Requests---None.  Council Workshop---Chairman Lundy announced that workshop will be 10/24/2009 at 7:30 AM, Utah Olympic Oval.  This is open to the public.  Newsletter---Chairman Lundy stated that articles are do now to Tawna for council newsletter.  Please send them to him as well as Tawna.  Chairman does need to approve.  Mike Dishong---Gave presentation regarding the maps that he makes.  He stated that we need to band together to get neighborhood watch groups started and how his maps can be a good tool for them to use.  He is very passionate about starting these groups.  He can be reached at 801-577-7074 and website is utahpathways.com.
